Amsterdam International Water Week has unfolded its sixth edition of fostering global change through inter-sectoral collaboration. The core theme of AIWW 2021 revolves around global greening solutions, integrated solutions and good practices, agreements and deals, collaborations and innovations.
In 2021, we focus on our ever-growing community and engage with them through interactive events like sub-thematic webinar series- Water Solutions, community building sessions with target and cross-cutting groups, Global inventory for Blue Green Good Practices and Integrated Solutions leading up to Amsterdam Agreements.
Amsterdam International Water Week 2021 will be a hybrid event with both online and in-person events, considering COVID-19 situations globally. This community-led event for strengthening and equipping the community with good practices and integrated solutions consists of 3 elements.

BLUE GREEN DEALS WITH INTEGRATED SOLUTIONS
Water as an enabler to accelerate resilient and sustainable development
AIWW 2021 theme is aligned with global blue-green deals like European Union’s Green Deal programme, Green New Deal (GND), US environmental resolution, EU-China Summit 2020 resolutions on de-carbonization and green recovery, World Bank Green Bond programme and Blue economy programme. The main theme provides a push to accelerate the achievement of UN-SDG Global Agenda 2030 goals.
The sub-themes are based on the main theme AIWW 2021 ‘Blue green deals with integration solutions’ and the AIWW Horizon 2030 with a focus on SDG’s with special focus on 2 (Zero Hunger), 6 (Clean Water & Sanitation), 9 (Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure), 11 (Sustainable Cities & Communities) and 13 (Climate Action). The theme and sub-themes for AIWW 2021 recognize the inter-connectivity of water challenges and solutions with other sectors.
Underlying sub-themes concretize the agenda for AIWW 2021 focusing on three pillars for catalyzing change: social, technical and ecological.
